Expert exchange in the fild of intercultural education in pre-schools in Iceland - Continuing education for vocational training staff and people responsible vor personnel management
Aims and activities
The aim of the study trip is to get to know the educational, intercultural work in kindergartens in Reykjavík and the Icelandic vocational training system.
The participants have the opportunity to observe work in 2-3 kindergartens that are involved in integrative education in Reykjavík. An exchange with colleagues on site is planned.
You take part in a one-day seminar on the subject of co-operative learning in multicultural groups. Co-operative learning is a promising approach helping integrative work, not the least in institutions that work with children.
You discuss intercultural issues and get sensitised for problems and chances of integration by children with and without a migration background. You get to know intercultural strategies for educational work on site and, besides, you extend your foreign linguistic skills.

Who can take part?
Vocational training staff in vocational schools/colleges who train future pre-school teachers.
Vocational training staff in continuing education facilities that serve the professional orientation and provide technical and personal bases for the occupation of pre-school teachers.
Managers and heads of day-care centres / homes, child psychiatry and youth psychiatry who are responsible for human resources and for the instruction and education of apprentices.
Vocational training staff in institutions that offer in-work continuing education for educators and management responsible for human resources, as for example in the municipal integration centres in Northrhine-Westphalia.
Teachers and counsellors who are occupied in continuing education for educators’ facilities and inside educational institutions.
Condition for participation in the study trip is a basic knowledge of the English language, but when required translation into German will also be provided. We organize a preparatory meeting before and an evaluation meeting after the study trip. Both meetings take place in Dortmund.
Support
The participants receive a subsidy towards accommodation expenses and travelling costs from the European Programme for Lifelong Learning / Leonardo da Vinci Mobility.
The intercultural and linguistic preparation is organized by CHANCENGLEICH in Europa e.V.
The own contribution to the participation in the continuing education measure amounts to 280.00€. In case your application is accepted, a participant contract will be signed by both parties.

Contents: Intercultural preparation, English refresher course with special focus on terms and expressions used in the field of intercultural education, first introduction to the Icelandic language. The participation in the preparatory meeting and evaluation meeting is obligatory.
